Flutist KARLA MOE enjoys an active career as chamber musician, orchestral player and teacher. She performs with New York City Opera, American Ballet Theatre, American Symphony, Colonial Symphony, Long Island Philharmonic, New Jersey State Opera and New York Grand Opera Companies. She has served as principal flutist with Dance Theatre of Harlem and Musica Aeterna Chamber Orchestra, which for many years sustained an acclaimed series at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She has worked under such conductors as James Levine, Kurt Masur, Leon Botstein and Leonard Bernstein. An active educator, Karla adorns the faculty of C.W. Post Long Island University as Director of Woodwind Studies. She has also participated in the New York Philharmonic's Education Programs. She plays frequently in the Broadway orchestras of Wicked and The Lion King, among others.
As chamber musician, she directed the Rosewood Ensemble and has performed with the New York Chamber Soloists, Bronx Arts Ensemble and Quintet of the Americas, of which she is a member. A favorite guest at the Caramoor Festival, Vermont Mozart Festival and Arcady Festival in Maine, she celebrates her 12th season with The Queen's Chamber Band
A graduate of St. Olaf College in Minnesota, she earned a Master's Degree in Performance from the Manhattan School of Music.
